Since the start of our restoration efforts, we have focused on blending ecological conservation with sustainable development practices. Through collaborative efforts with local communities and innovative techniques, we have achieved significant milestones in biodiversity restoration, agricultural development, and overall ecosystem health.
Our restoration efforts in Oronjia cover an impressive 1,648 hectares of land. This expansive area has become a model for ecological restoration, where innovative conservation techniques are helping to balance environmental preservation with sustainable development for the local communities. Through our work, we are not only regenerating natural ecosystems but also fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility among the people who depend on these resources.
Impact Metrics
The results of our conservation and restoration work in Oronjia are evident through significant achievements. Forest loss and clearance in the region have decreased by 90%, marking a major win in halting deforestation. In addition, the lemur population in the protected area has grown from just 68 individuals in 2022 to 160, signaling a strong recovery of this iconic species. Through agroforestry practices, the average income of local farmers has risen by 50 USD per person, contributing to their economic well-being. With seven years of experience, we have protected over 100 species and trained 112 farmers, empowering them with the knowledge and skills to sustain these efforts. To date, we have successfully implemented twenty projects that demonstrate the viability and effectiveness of our approach.
